Felt & Fir Worktable
The Felt & Fir Table is a handcrafted, counter height sewing table designed by a sewer for sewers. Made in Vermont in collaboration with Blodgett Cabinetry, this worktable pairs thoughtful design with exceptional materials to create a workspace that truly supports your sewing practice.
The 4'x6' or 3'x4' surface is topped with a ½ inch thick USA made wool felt that stabilizes fabric, is fully pinable, and allows you to iron directly on the table. A solid wood frame of clear vertical grain Douglas fir from the Pacific Northwest and a Baltic birch tabletop and lower shelf from Poland provide strength, stability, and longevity.
At 36" tall, the counter height design is easier on your back and body and offers ample space to spread out. A lower shelf provides convenient storage, while casters allow for easy movement and leveling.
Each table is made to order. Nationwide shipping now available.

Design Philosophy
We believe deeply in quality and craftsmanship. The tools we use, including the furniture we make with, should be thoughtfully crafted and beautiful in their own right. Our mission is to create functional, beautifully made sewing furniture that does not need to be hidden away in a sewing room. These are standalone pieces, furniture first and tools always, designed to be lived with and admired.
Materials
Authentic, high-quality materials that will last a lifetime are essential to our work. Each table is crafted from three carefully chosen materials that express their beauty without unnecessary embellishment.
The base is made from clear vertical grain Douglas Fir, harvested in the Pacific Northwest. Known for its strength and tight vertical grain with minimal knots or blemishes, this wood has a subtle warm red tone that deepens with age.
The top and shelf are made from Baltic Birch plywood sourced from Northeastern Europe. Constructed from multiple layers of birch veneer with alternating grain directions, this material offers exceptional strength and long-term flatness. We leave the edges exposed to celebrate the layered construction and honest nature of the material.
The work surface is topped with ½ inch felted wool sourced from Michigan. This versatile surface is ideal for pressing, laying out fabric, pinning, and even blocking knits. The natural texture of the felt holds fabric in place during cutting and assembly, and the natural fiber wool is an ideal surface for pressing your fabric.
