Discover a new way to work with knit fabrics in this hands-on exploration of slow stitching, texture, and embellishment with Kathryn Lowther of Quilters’ Corner at Middlebury Sew-N-Vac.
Cotton knits have unique qualities that can make them wonderfully versatile and satisfying to sew by hand. We’ll explore how cotton knits behave and learn techniques for successfully working with them, from construction stitching to decorative hand embroidery and embellishment. You’ll experiment with different hand-stitching techniques and threads, discovering which combinations work best for both structure and surface design. We’ll also look at edge treatments and ways to finish and embellish knit edges, giving you the confidence to approach your own garments and sewing projects with a fresh perspective.
This class is about slowing down, experimenting, and discovering the possibilities that emerge when traditional handwork meets modern knit fabrics.

All materials needed for this class are included. Note: we will not be making a garment in this class, this is skills building learning new hand sewing techniques.
This Class will be held in person at The Soda Plant, 266 Pine Street - Studio 107.

Age: Adult
Class size: Minimum 3 students are required to sign up. If minimum is not met refunds will be provided.
Cancellations: Cancellations must be done 2 weeks in advance to receive a refund.
Make-up classes: One make up class will be provided per month. Make up classes are for snow days and sick days, please do not sign up for class if you know you cannot attend all dates.
You are responsible for having the prerequisite skills listed for enrollment.
All supplies are included in the cost of the class. Pickup up all supplies (Including fabric and patterns) 1 week before the first class.
